Western Europe and the Alps’ highest peak is stunningly framed by the large windows of Chalet One Oak. The design of this very modern chalet brings light – and those views – flooding in. While the style is contemporary, the materials used to bring the interior to life are the classic Alpine favourites – wood and stone. Modern art and artefacts – including a motorcycle – bring colour, contrast and interest to the rooms.

This is a three-floor chalet with six bedrooms for up to 12 guests. There are four double, en-suite rooms and a bunk room. The master suite commands its own floor and really is a majestic space, enjoying, like all the bedrooms floor-to-ceiling windows and mountain-view terraces.

The main living room is all about light and space, with its high ceilings and 11sq metre terraces. This is also the dining room, and huge soft sofas are the perfect place to watch your dinner being prepared in the superb kitchen or to enjoy after-dinner drinks.

Book One Oak on catered terms to enjoy the full attention of three experienced staff, including a shuttle service to the ski lifts and top-quality cuisine during your stay. Wines will be selected for you, and a concierge service provides all the extras, from building the menus for your stay to arranging dinner bookings or home spa treatments.

Combloux is part of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, and just a short – chauffeured perhaps – drive from Megève, one of the most beautiful of France’s Alpine resorts.
Unlike some purpose-built resorts, Megève is a living historic community with hundreds of years of history and a beautiful medieval village centre.

It’s at the heart of a top quality ski area with a huge length of pistes to enjoy – up to 445 km – offering a fantastic variety of snow experiences to visitors. Tree-line slopes are storm safe, while high altitude and the influence of Mont Blanc, mean good ski cover throughout the season. It’s a particularly good area for intermediate skiers and all this just 80 km from Geneva airport (there are six more nearby airports).

France can usually lead the world in style, and certainly the culinary arts. Megève lives up to the image with an excellent – and family-friendly – après ski scene in a well-developed resort that includes a casino, three cinemas, and four big nightclubs. The quality of nightlife and dining extends to one of the best mountain restaurant selections in Europe.
