WORTH VISITING
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a stunning mansion built between 1905 and 1912 by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild, a member of the prominent Rothschild banking family, as her summer residence. Known for her impeccable taste, the candy pink villa - a labour of love overseen by 12 esteemed architects - is renowned for its opulent architecture and exquisite furnishings. One of the most striking features are its nine themed gardens, each designed with a different theme, such as Spanish, Florentine, Japanese, and Provençal styles. Inside today's museum, visitors will discover vaults in the Spanish-Moorish style, admire its impressive art collection and can stroll through its enchanting gardens, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring the Cap Ferrat peninsula.

Villa Santo Sospir, aka the „tattooed villa“is famous for its association with Jean Cocteau. What started as a short holiday invitation turned into a long-term residency, during which the French artist left an indelible mark on the villa's interior. His artistic talents flourished while living there and he decided to adorn the walls with his signature style of murals and drawings. Using charcoal and paint, he transformed the villa's interior into a living canvas, depicting mythological figures, scenes from Greek tragedies, and other fantastical imagery. It served as a gathering place for artists (Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Alexander Calder, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Dietrich), writers (Graham Greene), designers (Christian Dior, Pierre Cardin), and intellectuals, drawn to the villa's unique charm and Cocteau's flamboyant and magnetic presence. Santo Sospir also played host when Romy Schneider and Alain Delon spent their first romantic weekend. Today, Santo Sospir, can be visited by appointment.
