Two Perfect Large Group Chalets in Val d’Isère

Two Perfect Large Group Chalets in Val d’Isère

Published on 28/07/2020 by Finest Holidays - Luxury Travel

Finding wonderful luxury accommodation for a couple or a family can be a challenge. And when you want to share the magic of a luxury ski holiday with a group of special people you have an even more exclusive pool of holiday chalets to choose from. Chalet Daria and Chalet Machapuchare in Val d’Isère both accommodate up to 14 guests. But there’s no compromise on quality in these superb chalets featuring awe-inspiring architecture, world-class spa/wellness areas, swimming pools, and excellent food. Good luck choosing between them. These  are two mountain chalets with a world-class setting.

Val d’Isère’s alpine sporting history is long and deep: it is a Ski World Cup host, and in 1992 was the site of the big ski races of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. You can still ski the famous Olympic Black run if you have the skill, but the resort – and the Espace Killy ski area – has world-class skiing and much more for winter sports fans of all levels.

Chalet Daria, Val d’Isère: a Beautiful Giant

The seven bedrooms of Chalet Daria host 14 guests in this wondrous 400 square-meter luxury chalet. The world of local architect, Michel Covarel, is renowned in the Tarentaise Valley, and his knowledge of the landscape pays dividends in a large-group chalet that sits beautifully in the Chatelard area of Val d’Isère, looking up the Manchet Valley.

The living area is at the top of this five-story wonder. Huge windows and towering ceilings bring the Alps into your daily routine, without losing any of the cozy intimacy you want from a luxury ski chalet. Leather, stone, and wood – often historic – are the keynote materials of an interior that is traditional, sumptuous, and as chic as you’d expect in the French Alps.

The spa and wellness area is perhaps the stand-out feature of Chalet Daria. Swimming pools are highly sought after in Alpine ski chalets, and Daria’s is a great example, with a wonderful view, and plenty of space, boosted by a contraflow system. Complementing it are a hammam (a North African-style steam room) and massage room. Your post-ski recover in Chalet Daria will be such a pleasure.

The service is the very best. A professional chef prepare your meals to a menu of your design; which can be enjoyed under mountain-view skylights, or perhaps on the big heated terrace outside the living and dining area. A chauffeur (until 10pm each day) can take you into town. But with so much on your doorstep: ski-in/ski-out access to three of the resort’s finest pistes, you may prefer to travel more traditionally.

Chalet Daria has one of the most impressive silhouettes we’ve seen, it really is a landmark chalet, but its grandeur doesn’t overshadow its welcome, and this is a wonderful family chalet with lots of outdoor play space, and a mezzanine floor that’s perfectly suited as a kids’ area.

Chalet Machapuchare, Val d’Isère: World-Class Luxury

Even large groups have choices though, and Chalet Machapuchare might even have you turning down Chalet Daria as you try to select the perfect large-group chalet in Val. With sleeping accommodation – fabulous, beautiful, super-luxe sleeping accommodation – for up to 14, Chalet Machapuchare is another stand-out luxury chalet, enjoying a fantastic, secluded location in ultra-exclusive Le Crêt.

The balconies face south, taking in Val and the mountains beyond, with La Daille, Solaise Express, L’Olympique and the resort’s center a matter of minutes away in your chauffeur driven vehicle. Opened in 2018, Chalet Machapuchare hits every possible measure of excellence and makes an unforgettable first impression. A lift takes you from the entrance – and a beautiful ski room – to five floors on luxury, dedicated to providing the perfect luxury ski experience.

There’s a pool, with counterflow to make it feel even larger. A gym keeps you trim, while a hammam and massage room work on bringing mind, body, and spirit back together. A hot tub in the garden is a decadent way to chill, chat, and enjoy some of the most famous views in the world.

You’ll find respect is paid to all the proven virtues of chalet design in Chalet Machapuchare: a wood fire is the focal point of a high-ceilinged living area with giant windows and big balconies. A private bar sets the tone for the evening, before highly-trained chefs serve from a professional kitchen to a dining table large enough for your whole party to dine together.

You will also enjoy the latest in entertainment tech, with a cinema room and Wi-Fi on tap. The service is of a timeless quality, and designed to accommodate groups with families. If you’re wondering about the name, it links Machapuchare to one of the most beautiful peaks in the Himalayas, if you are dreaming of future luxury holidays.

Val d’Isère has it All

There is tough competition between Europe’s ski resorts, and properties like Chalet Daria and Chalet Machapuchare show why Val d’Isère remains around the top of any ranking of the continent’s winter sports hot spots.

The world-class skiing brings a discerning clientele to these beautiful mountains and they expect – and find – the best. There are two Michelin-starred restaurants: Le Table de L’Ours (1 Michelin*) and the two star L’Atelier d’Edmond, praised for its “expertly crafted”, “refined, inspired” dishes.
