Description

Don’t be taken in by the name of this luxury chalet in St Anton, Austrian Alps. It certainly is sweet - and cozy, and opulent, and stylish, and unique - but with accommodation for 14 guests this recently refurbished, historic property with its superb spa facility is big in every sense, perfect for large groups, family escapes, and business trips. Ensconced in seven superb suites, guests can stroll from Sweet Little Home to St Anton’s famous high street in under a minute and be on the slopes in five.

Over 100 years old, Sweet Little Home combines classic Tyrolean feel with the latest luxury facilities, like the in-garden hot tub and sauna. This landmark property in a pretty Alpine village that is renowned for its architecture is big enough to house two lounges and to let those 14 guests really stretch out, chill out and relax. This is a fantastically designed chalet. The best traditions of Alpine design have been respected, particularly in signature use of aged wood, polished brass, and ceramics in the interiors. The furnishings also have a story to tell, with beautifully chosen antiques and accessories, fabrics and art reflecting Austria’s unique Alpine culture.

Don’t think that this chalet isn’t completely up to date though. Clean lines and white-washed walls are timeless and enhance the mountain light that floods in. The facilities are straight out of the 21st century and out of the very top draw. That means superb wet rooms and walk-in wardrobes in the five en-suite doubles. The final bedrooms are superb master suites with both baths and showers. Between these rooms sits the smaller of the chalet’s two living spaces – a more intimate sitting room that’s great for smaller groups to gather in, and perfect as a kids’ space or movie room.

Apple TV is on tap through all your screens (there are flat-screen satellite TVs in every bedroom), and a DVD library and Wi-Fi give you entertainment options. An open fire warms the main living room downstairs. It’s a wonderful space: we recommend taking a good look at our photographs to get the feel of this cleverly put together and very eclectic space. While it is a beautiful room, comfort is key with soft sofas, luxurious upholstery, and warm furs that will look super welcoming after a day in the snow.

There’s room for everyone to sit at the big, hand-made wooden dining table, where the guests at Sweet Little Home can expect to enjoy the very best cuisine from breakfast to dinner. A stuberl (literally a “little room”) in the kitchen gives guests a place to cozy up with a drink while the chefs make use of professional equipment to prepare your food.

For your personal indulgence, fabulous spa facilities are available in purpose-built rooms just outside the back door. Sit back in the hot tub under the stars, or soak up the healing steam in your own sauna while you look out through glass walls. There are fire pits and a barbecue in the garden for outdoor drinking, dining, and perhaps dancing.

Over three floors Sweet Little Home delivers an extraordinary guest experience in what must be one of the most sough-after locations in Europe this winter. All of our chalets can claim to be special and unique, but with its quirky, eclectic design Chalet Sweet Little Home has a sweet little something all of its own.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN ST ANTON

For such a well-known ski resort, the village itself is surprisingly small and compact. Its pedestrianised main street offers a wide choice of cafés, bars and good quality traditional and international restaurants as well as street offers a wide choice of cafés, bars and good quality traditional and international restaurants. St Anton am Arlberg is the ski capital of Austria and one of Europe's best ski resorts. There are plenty of good dining options in St. Anton, and a walk through the village at night reveals a buzzing choice of bars and clubs with around 70 restaurants to choose from. The resort is a long, sprawling mixture of traditional and modern buildings crammed into a narrow valley. It used to sandwiched between a busy road and the mainline railway - but the railway was moved before the start of the 2000/2001 World Championship season, and this area is landscaped into a park and ice rink. St Anton is full of character, its traffic-free main street lined by traditional-style buildings. It is an attractively bustling place, day and night.

SKIING IN ST ANTON

Reliable snowfall and challenging skiing make St  Anton and the Arlberg a holy grail for advanced skiers but there is plenty of fun to be had by less experienced skiers and boarders too. St Anton is also renowned for great party atmosphere on and off the slopes, with several famous après ski bars strategically placed on the lower runs back to the village and a huge range of après-ski to choose from down in town. The Arlberg ski area and ski pass also include the ski resorts Lech and Zurs. The skiing and snowboarding terrain at St Anton consists of wide open treeless powder bowls, steep cliff drops and tight chutes, massive moguls, boundless linking groomed trails and gentle beginner areas. All the terrain is supported by a fast and efficient lift system. St Anton offers top quality skiing and boarding at high altitude with some of the best off-piste runs in Austria that are best tackled with a local guide. Steep and deep or mogulled runs off the top of the resort are what attracts the St Anton enthusiasts.

An award-winning new high speed lift recently replaced the Galzig Cable Car from the resort centre making access into the main area much quicker and there are some superb runs for keen intermediates. Whilst there are some beginner slopes directly above the resort, the area is best suited to strong intermediates and experts who will relish the challenge of St Anton’s steeper slopes whether covered in powder or bumps (fresh snow tracks out quickly). With the resorts of Lech, Zurs, Stuben and St Christoph all covered on the Ski Arlberg lift pass, there is no shortage of challenging skiing and snowboarding in this vast area. Snowboarders will also love the terrain as well as the half-pipe and freestyle park.
