Catered Chalet

Maison Blanche & Verte is a luxury six-bedroom holiday chalet in the picturesque village of Châtel, part of the extensive Portes du Soleil. Conveniently located just 90 minutes' drive from Geneva airport, the chalet is equally suitable for a family ski holiday or a corporate weekend away. With the impressive services and facilities on offer, Maison Blanche & Verte is arguably the most luxurious chalet in the valley. Maison Blanche & Verte has been designed to meet the needs of skiers and non-skiers alike. With its indoor swimming pool, sauna, massage room, cinema room and gym, the chalet has everything you could want for a luxury ski holiday.

A fine wine cellar compliments the exceptional food and service that is on offer throughout your stay. Whether you are sitting down for dinner in the large open plan living room, relaxing in the mezzanine above or waking up in one of the six luxury en-suite bedrooms, the views of the valley and village below are magnificent. No detail has been overlooked. This beautiful mountain home offers the perfect mix of cutting edge design, outstanding facilities and exceptional service. The luxury chalet has been thoughtfully laid out with the bedrooms and living areas in separate wings, thus allowing the night owls and early birds to co-exist without disturbing each other; perfect when travelling with children.

Each of the six ensuite bedrooms has been expertly designed and can be configured as twin or superking-sized beds - each of which comes with "White Company" linen. As is now expected, all bedrooms are wired for sound and vision. The main open-plan living room offers the perfect entertaining space, whether for drinks with friends or casual family dinner. For those with young children, there is also a separate mezzanine area for them to play in, without being too far away. And for children of all ages there is the fabulous cinema, with popcorn holders in the seats! If the skiing is not exercise enough, there is always the indoor pool and gym to finish off a hard day’s work.

The owners have designed this property to be a chalet during winter and a villa in summer. For those that like the outdoor life, this is the perfect year round destination. A wonderful place - fantastic views, great food and lots of pampering. A real Alpine treat!

Infos/Activities

The ski resort of Châtel lies at 1,200 meters within the Portes du Soleil ski region and the highest point of skiing is about 2,200 metres, but many of the lower slopes are north-facing and do retain the snow throughout the season. The skiing is extensive and varied, with easy access to Avoriaz if you've got a thing about concrete. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars too. A charming, old-fashioned farming village on the French-Swiss border turned ski resort!

Various alternative outdoor activities such as ice diving, snowshoe hikes, ice skating, night skiing or even the snow park with its half pipes and boardercross provide sufficient variety in addition to the normal ski offer. Moreover, the more adventurous can prove themselves by ice climbing, snowshoeing, ski touring, sledging and paragliding.

Les Portes du Soleil is a major ski sports destination in the northern French Alps, the Chablais Alps, encompassing 12 resorts between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland. With more than 650 kilometres of marked pistes and about 200 lifts in total, spread over 14 valleys and about 400 square miles, Les Portes du Soleil ranks among the two largest ski areas in the world; the other being Les Trois Vallées. Almost all of the pistes are connected by lifts - only a few marginal towns can only be reached by the free bus services in the area.

Of the 12 resorts in Les Portes du Soleil seven are French and five are Swiss. Most of the resorts have grown around traditional valley villages - only Avoriaz and the very small Les Crosets and Torgon were purposely built during the mid-sixties. Morzine and Châtel are the largest of the traditional towns in the area.

As a whole the skiing is relatively low in altitude compared to most French destinations. The highest skiing is just below 2,500 metres and the lowest approximately 900 metres. However, the area is heavily influenced by the microclimate between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, which generates very substantial snowfall between November and April making it possible to keep the area open to skiing typically from mid November until mid to late April. Some of the lower stations close around April 1 or earlier depending on snow conditions though.
