Description

Set directly on Gstaad’s famous Promenade, Ultima Promenade Gstaad is a distinguished luxury ski chalet in Gstaad with a strong sense of character and an unusually central setting. Originally created for Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the residence combines grand proportions with refined Alpine interiors and the privacy of a fully serviced private home. Eight spacious suites accommodate up to sixteen adults, while a dedicated children’s dormitory sleeps four younger guests, making the chalet particularly well suited to large families and groups travelling together.

Inside, the atmosphere is elegant without feeling formal. Timber, rich fabrics and polished contemporary detailing shape a series of generous living spaces designed for both quiet moments and lively gatherings. The principal lounge is centred around an open fireplace, while a separate TV area offers a more relaxed setting. A dramatic dining room with double-height proportions creates the perfect backdrop for long dinners, supported by a professional kitchen and extensive service areas. Outside, the wraparound balcony opens towards Gstaad’s village rooftops and the surrounding mountain scenery.

The bedroom accommodation is equally generous. Eight double suites are arranged across the main sleeping floors, each with its own dressing area and luxurious en-suite bathroom. Many include both bathtub and shower, and one suite is suitable for guests with reduced mobility. On the attic level, a dedicated children’s dormitory provides sleeping space for four younger guests together with its own shower room and multiple WCs. This layout gives adults privacy while keeping families comfortably connected within the chalet.

Wellness and entertainment occupy a substantial part of the residence. The spa floor includes an indoor swimming pool with integrated whirlpool Jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, cold plunge pool, snow shower, treatment room and private gym. A dedicated relaxation area and bar create a calm setting between spa sessions. Elsewhere, guests can enjoy a private cinema, arcade and even a nightclub with bar and dance floor, giving the chalet a completely different atmosphere after dark.

Practical details are equally well considered, with a ski room, internal and external parking and an elevator serving all main levels except the attic. A highly personalised service team completes the experience. With Gstaad’s boutiques, restaurants and bars just outside, several ski access points only minutes away and Glacier 3000 within easy reach by car, Ultima Promenade offers an exceptional base for luxury ski holidays in the Swiss Alps.

Infos/Activities

Gstaad is the Swiss resort of fairy tales. Surrounded by Alps, the town’s most prominent feature is a picturesque castle that sits on a hill overlooking the village. At night, the Palace Hotel is lit by spotlights and the eves of every chalet in the village are illuminated by strings of small white lights. Adding to the charm of this winter marvel is that the town is car free and all destinations are a close walk away.

Gstaad is known for its luxury hotels and shopping, excellent service, and international stars, as well as being one of the largest ski areas in Europe. The town is located at the intersection of two valleys in the Bernese Oberland in the Alps. Switzerland is a multicultural nation with the two largest ethnicities being French and German speakers.

The resort is located in close proximity to gorgeous lakes and glaciers and is often visited by world-famous people like King Juan Carlos II of Spain and Elizabeth Taylor.

Gstaad in Switzerland is a large resort with 61 lifts (15 gondolas, 18 chair lifts and 28 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 2000 metres (6562 feet) of vertical descent. Gstaad has 51 pistes with a total length of 250 kilometers (156 miles). Gstaad is best suited to beginner skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for both expert and intermediates. There are 172 kilometers of cross country ski trails at Gstaad. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park.
