Infos/Activities

St. Martin is one of the smallest sea islands shared between two nations. The main cities are Philipsburg (Dutch side) and Marigot (French side). If you appreciate gourmet food, world-class duty-free shopping, a vibrant nightlife, pristine beaches, a warm year-round climate and a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a Caribbean twist, Sint Maarten – Saint Martin is for you! On the one hand there is the delight and sobriety of the Dutch, on the other the savoir-faire of the French and the mixture of both with the exotic native heritage. Add dozens of beaches and lagoons, luxury hotels, elegant villas and over 300 restaurants and you might understand why St. Martin is the most visited Leeward Island.

All the great European, American or Asian chefs vie to compete in this gourmet capital of the Caribbean, creating cuisines on a par with the best of Paris or New York. Shopping on the island is duty-free and casinos, discos and nightclubs stay open until dawn. Jumbo jets from world centers land here and charter flights enable visits to the smaller Leeward Islands. There is something for every taste on St. Martin. Discover our luxurious villa collection on St. Martin. Not all of them are published. Simply contact Finest Holidays and let us know what you are looking for.

Food: St. Martin is perhaps best known for its restaurants and the elegance of its cuisine. The St. Martinois are rightly proud of their cuisine, which here resembles something of an art form. Reservations are definitely recommended for dinner in most of the trendier restaurants.

Duty Free Shopping: One of the island's big attractions is the duty free shopping on both sides of the island for luxury items from around the world.

Beaches: Baie Longue, two untouched beaches, relatively deserted apart from a few intrepid surfers.
Grand Case Bay: The island's best restaurants are located on Grand Case Bay. This is a place where you can eat well and also swim.
Friar's Bay: lies opposite the island of Anguilla. Well protected from the waves, this beach is a local favorite.

Golf: The island's only 18-hole golf course is on the Dutch side of St. Maarten near Mullet Bay. The course is open to all visitors
Diving: Visibility in the waters surrounding the island is usually around 100 feet and can sometimes reach up to 200 feet. The coral reefs support a wide variety of marine life and just off the coast of St. Maarten in Great Bay lies the wreck of an 1801 English battleship.
Surfing – Beaches: Wilderness: regular reef waves. A must. Mullet Bay: Most extreme beach break. Great.
Windsurfing: From beginners to experienced funboarders, the east coast of the island, exposed to the trade winds, offers fun for everyone all year round in relative safety. The mean, regular winds are force 3 to 4.
Kitesurfing: Kites are available on the beaches of Orient Bay and Le Galion.
Sailing: The appeal of sailing here lies in following the various rugged coastlines with their dream beaches hidden in secret coves and winding your way through small islands or coral reefs that emerge from the transparent waters.
Deep Sea Fishing: Saint Martin is a must for deep sea fishing as it hosts two major tournaments, the Marlin's Cup and the Saint Martin Bill Fish Tournament.
Treetop Adventure Park: A thrilling course and various ziplines suspended high above a private forest reserve among 200-year-old mango and mahogany trees.
Hiking: For those who want to experience the island's natural beauty on foot, there are 25 miles of clearly defined footpaths that lead through the mountains and along the coast, revealing some truly spectacular panoramas.
Horseback riding: The Coralita Beach Resort runs a small stable and rents out horses for romantic rides along the beach.
Bayside Riding Club: Ride along St. Martin's most beautiful bay. One and a half miles of white sand beach and scenic hiking trails lead through the island's marine reserve.
Tennis: Tennis remains one of St. Martin's most popular pastimes and there are more than 70 courts across the island.
