Description

The villa Martinis Marchi is situated at Maslinica, close to the Island of Šolta, just off the Adriatic coast of Croatia. The small fishing village of Maslinica is virtually part of the decoration of the 300 year old castle with its 5000m2 garden.

The castle in which both the villa and restaurant are housed, was originally built by the Martinis brothers in the early 18th century to help protect the Split mainland and islands from pirate attacks as well as to develop a community to work the land. It has now been returned to its former glory after a massive investment of time and money by its relatively new owners and under the watchful guidance of local Croatian heritage architects and advisors.

And if you arrive with your private yacht, you can dock it in a marina directly in front of the hotel. The castle has a beautiful outdoor heated swimming pool, a sauna and hammam with a resting area. Inside the castle there is a kitchen and a spacious living area, leading to the swimming pool and the terrace. The kitchen is at your disposal if you wish to prepare your meals yourself or even have a professional cook prepare it for you.

At first thought, the modern facilities of Martinis Marchi may seem incompatible with the original purpose of this old country castle, yet the blend of three hundred year old stone and a modern pool looks absolutely fantastic.

Tourist Trips

Getting to Šolta

The island of Šolta is 12.5 nautical miles from Split, which takes about 50 minutes sailing by ferry. The main port of the island of Šolta is Rogač, which has regular ferry links to Split all year round. In the summer months, the Split airport is well connected with almost all European countries, directly or via Zagreb.

Health Safety
There is a health centre near Grohote, where Šolta also has an organized emergency medical assistance. For patients whose lives are in danger, an emergency transport is provided by air (helicopter) or by sea (motorboat).

Petrol Station for Vehicles and Vessels
A petrol station is situated next to the ferry port in Rogač.

Sailing Trips : Maslinica is situated on the western side of the island of Šolta in the bay known by the same name. Near Maslinica there is a cove Šešula, as well as an archipelago made up of seven little islands, on the 43° 24 of the north geographical latitude and 16° 12 of the east geographical longitude. For sailors, this is where the fun starts: sailing along the southern coast of Šolta or through the Hvar channel towards Bol on the island of Brač will satisfy anyone who wants to tame the restless wind from the west and the open seas of the Adriatic.

The bay of Maslinica is an excellent shelter because it is well-protected against all winds. Right in front of the castle, there is a mooring for sailing vessels.
