Menorca is a paradise in the Balearics. Being the least exploited of all islands is imbued with timeless quality of tranquility and beauty. An ideal place for family holidays, enjoy rural tourism, horse riding, hiking, scuba diving, gastronomy and see incredible sunsets. In fact, Menorca is the first site in Spain in seeing the sun. The entire 270-square-mile island is a Unesco biosphere reserve, a designation issued in 1993 for the rich flora and fauna that thrive in Minorca’s forests, gorges, wetlands, salt marshes and hillsides. In 2004 Unesco expanded its protective reach, including in its definition the island’s widely scattered prehistoric sites, effectively preventing the construction of high-rise condominiums and hotels. Most of the island is unpopulated, full of wild land where aromatics, yuka trees, olive trees and many fruit trees, grow throw the rock crevices. The island is home to about 220 species of birds, 14 varieties of orchid and 1,000 species of plants, some 60 of which are endemic to the island.  The island coastline is full of spectacular coves and beaches, many of them virgin, with water so clear as in the Caribbean.
