Wang Nam Jai is a luxury holiday villa artfully arranged over the jungle-clad hillside for incredible ocean views, peace and privacy. Tucked away on a headland in a secure estate between Kamala and Patong bays on Phuket, this four-bedroom, fully staffed villa is a delightful place for groups or families to unwind in the tropics.

Nam Jai, which translates to ‘water-heart’ in Thai, is a phrase that means kindness, in particular the kindness of making sacrifices for those you care about and extending hospitality to others. Wang Nam Jai, then, means “a palace of generous kindness”, and those who stay here will discover that generosity abounds, in both the opulence of the living spaces and the warm attentiveness of the staff. Wang Nam Jai’s sense of tranquillity extends into every corner of the villa, both inside and out, from the Buddhist and Hindu paintings, statues and wall frescoes to the koi pond and the sounds of birdsong and ocean waves. On the terrace, the eye is drawn to an intriguing life-sized bronze statue of a ballet dancer in an energetic pose. Created by the Monaco-based sculptor Kees Verkade, it’s a dazzling image of strength and balance against the vivid backdrop of sea and sky.

The four king-bedded suites are each a haven of peace, especially the master suite with its huge terrazzo bathtub. The bedrooms are consciously free from distracting electronics – but there’s plenty of entertainment to enjoy in the media room and on the terrace, including foosball, table tennis and a home theatre as well as a 22-metre infinity edge swimming pool. Days at Wang Nam Jai unfold in blissful comfort. Salute the sun, admire the views and enjoy the fresh morning breeze with a yoga session in the fitness room that crowns the villa. Take breakfast in the cool comfort of the dining room before a refreshing dip in the pool and a tanning session on one of the many loungers furnishing the wide terrace. Finish the day with an elaborate seafood barbecue served alfresco by the pool, all prepared by your private chef. And then, as night falls and the lights of Patong Beach glitter across the bay, savour some wine in the living room or on a comfy terrace sofa before heading out for some nightlife excitement.

Villa Wang Nam Jai’s bedroom, living and dining pavilions are arranged around central terraces that stretch across the villa grounds over two floors. At the front of the top terrace is the living room pavilion, while behind is a large two-storey pavilion with the dining room and kitchen on the ground floor and the fabulous king-bedded master suite above. Opposite the living pavilion is a large cushioned sala that makes a perfect place for a massage. The 22-metre pool is set on the lower-level terrace, which also boasts a barbecue dining area. The media room is next to the pool while a short walk along the jungle boardwalk leads to more pavilions housing the three guest bedrooms and the fitness room.

The fitness room is in a hideaway pavilion at the top level, just beyond the guest suites. This small yet luxurious room is equipped with free weights, yoga mats and a sound system, with inspiring views to take in while working out or relaxing.
