Gran Hotel Son Net / Puigpunyent
This old finca dating from 1672, with its beautiful patio and original well, has been restored several times to date. The most recent renovation was completed in June 1998. Natural stone flagged floors and ancient rustic beams are combined with the elegance and traditional interior designed public areas and guestrooms. This not to mention, of course, the impressive centenary oil press converted into a gourmet restaurant.
Art lovers will enjoy the remarkable collection of modern paintings in the hotel with original works by artists such a Marc Chagall, Frank Stella, David Hockney, Andy Warhol and others.
In 1453 the finca was given the name of Son Net for the first time. During this period, Son Net was the heart of Puigpunyent, with the family living on the property and the peasants and servants living in the village at the bottom of the hill. The actual shape and size of the manor house dates back to 1672. When the last member of the Net family died in 1863 the finca was divided into 27 smaller properties. Of these Son Net remains one of the largest and its spectacular position offers magnificent views and tranquillity.

The city of Palma de Mallorca, only 12 km. from the hotel, has a population of just over 300.000 people and a privileged annual climate with yearly average temperatures of 21º centigrade. Two large monuments dominate the city: The Bellver Castle on the west side and the Cathedral on the east. Also of note is the Almudaina Palace, the fish market, Cort square, the area around the cathedral which has a number of manors and palaces that are reminiscent of the golden ages of the Mallorquin nobility. Nearly all these building have been made using Santanyí stone found on the island which gives the city its fantastic gold tone.
