Description

The luxury Chalet Calistoga has been beautifully redesigned in 2016 and provides a truly exclusive experience in one of the most beautiful parts of the main village. The holiday chalet is spread over four levels and an expansive 350sqm. The interiors are harmonious and modern and the five en-suite bedrooms are complemented by a sauna, a massage room and a beautiful indoor pool. If you are looking for contemporary living space that is beautifully finished then Calistoga would be an ideal choice.

On entering the main village of Val d’Isère you see a collection of exclusive chalets that have some of the finest positions in the resort, overlooking both the imposing Bellevarde mountain and the gorge where the Isère river narrows. This sunny enclave is known as Le Crêt and is one of the most beautiful and traditional parts of the village with most of the buildings constructed with local Savoie stone, reclaimed wood and Lauze stone roofs. Chalet Calistoga is located in the middle of this area and has panoramic views to the west and north and receives the sun from lunchtime through to the early evening.

The chalet occupies a very convenient position being located midway between the home run slopes so which ever descent you choose to finish your day on you are never to far from the chalet. It is a flat ten minute walk to the village centre or two minutes in the 4x4. Chalet Calistoga was fully renovated in the autumn of 2016 and what has been delivered really leads the pack in terms of high spec finish and innovation in contemporary mountain living.

Huge windows dominate a light and airy living room with a double height dining area and views across the Isère river. The outside of the chalet has been constructed of local stone and wood and reflects the serenity of this part of the village. The interiors are a perfect example of understated elegance, a long oak table cut from a single piece of wood forms a centre piece for the main living space and there are two separate tv and music snugs for relaxing and hiding away. Above the living space there is an iMac workspace and further reading area.

Descending to the middle floor is the main sleeping area with four beautiful en-suite bedrooms one of which has a bath. Two of these bedrooms feature a terrace that opens onto the private garden. The lowest floor of the chalet holds a further 150sqm of floorspace consisting of an en-suite bedroom that overlooks the valley towards the gorge, a sauna, a massage room and a stunning pool and relaxation area. The main garage is also on this level where you will find the ski room and boot warmers.

The chalet is fully serviced. The professional chefs are some of the finest in the industry and many have a background of delivering to the highest standards on super yachts and Michelin starred restaurants. They will contact you before arrival to discuss your menus for the week. There is also an in-house host who provides an exceptional concierge service and housekeeping to help you with the booking of ski tuition, guides, equipment or help with restaurant reservations. The chalet comes with access to our 4x4 Landrover driving service and chauffeur, who also doubles as our go to person for snow and weather updates and lift openings.

Infos/Activities

Our luxury ski chalets in Val d'Isère are available catered and self-catered, for the best luxury ski holidays ever. Some are Ski in/Ski out and many have swimming pools, sauna, hammam and hot tubs. Val d'Isère is located only five kilometres from Italy, on the border of the Vanoise National Park, created in 1963.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski resort Val d'Isère in the Savoie region of France, is a colourful winter sports haven that began as a farm community in the years B.C. The town received parish rights in 1637 and the parish church, which is still a landmark in the town centre, was built in 1664.

The charming village finds its 1,800 residents outnumbered 15 to one by guests in winter. The western and central areas of Val d'Isère are most recognizable by their "chalet" architecture, while in the eastern part of the town high-rise architecture dominates the landscape.

Along with nearby purpose-built Tignes the area forms part of the Espace Killy, the self-titled "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". Named for Olympic hero Jean-Claude Killy, who grew up in Val d'Isère, Val is the better-known part of the skiing region and one of the best ski destinations in the French Alps.

The Val d'Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley. As you approach the resort you pass by Lac du Chevril, under which the old town of Tignes (sunk in 1952) is found. You then enter Val d'Isère via La Daille where the Olympic downhill run finishes. This is a very popular way for skiers to leave the mountain on Val d'Isère holidays, as it is directly below the greatest après ski party in France at Folie Douce. The ski down at closing time is riotous but only recommended for strong intermediates and above. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, as well as the usual winter fare.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski slopes themselves are equipped with a high-volume gondola, able to transport standing skiers, the funicular Funival from La Daille via a tunnel to the top of Bellevarde, traditional chair lifts - some with windshields and many detachable, button/disc-pulls - and tow-ropes. There are both groomed slopes and backcountry (off-piste) skiing. The slopes' difficulty levels are particularly high. However, as in Tignes there are grand, easy  pistes as well. It is first class off-piste country for powder addicts and there are many good guides available.
