Description

There is no compromise on quality or service in this six-bedroom, 12-guest luxury apartment that has everything you would expect from a luxury chalet and more. Choucas Noir - the name means Jackdaw - is the ideal ski property, perfectly placed to explore and enjoy Val d'Isère, one of Europe’s most storied Alpine resorts. The location cannot be beaten. The nearest lifts to the slopes are 200 meters away. There is a bus stop within 50 meters. And there is no walk to one of the most exciting social, shopping and dining scenes in the winter sports world because it’s right on your doorstep.

All this and you still get to enjoy fantastic views over some of the most famous and coveted skiing terrain in the world from your second floor perch. Luxury ski apartment Choucas Noir is cozy, welcoming and intimate. But it’s also big and expansive, with classic features of Alpine chalet design that make the most of the mountain sun, stars and fresh air. A big balcony opens from the spacious open-plan living and dining area, where an open fire both divides and unites these two wonderful spaces. Here you get your first impression of the fantastic design of Chalet Noucas.

Typical Alpine materials like stone, cowhide, and wood link this stylish and up-to-date property to a timeless tradition. The furniture is bespoke, super-comfortable, and made to be enjoyed. The latest screen technology hides away in a TV snug that’s a perfect private hideaway, while a pool table makes this a social space par excellence. There are TVs in every room, including in all of the bedrooms. The six sleeping rooms are cleverly designed to make the most of space, while delivering a comfortable and relaxing haven for guests. The rooms are all en-suite, with bath, shower or bath-and-shower rooms. Three rooms convert between double and twin rooms, so you can tailor the accommodation to suit your party.

A bunk bedroom – also en-suite and with an extra pull-out bed – makes this a superb family apartment. To complete the aura of relaxation, you simply need to pop into the steam room for a sauna and a massage. Serviced guests can call on the skills of dedicated staff to arrange visits from the best local therapists, beauty experts, and more. A chef might also be on your menu, but self-catering guests will find the large kitchen a pleasure to use with its double Gaggenau oven, double dishwashers, coffee maker, and more. There is everything you need to prepare the perfect breakfast to take out to the balcony, or a gourmet feast to entertain guests around the 12-seater aged-wood dining table with its impressive wing-backed master seats.

If you do need to keep in touch with the work-a-day world then a small office space, a computer, telephone line and internet throughout the apartment can help you check business messages as well as you social media. Satellite TV integrates with the latest music systems.Choucas Noir is a practical proposition too. It has its own laundry facilities, parking space, and access to the ski racks and boot warmers you need to complete your day on the slopes.

Infos/Activities

Our luxury ski chalets in Val d'Isère are available catered and self-catered, for the best luxury ski holidays ever. Some are Ski in/Ski out and many have swimming pools, sauna, hammam and hot tubs. Val d'Isère is located only five kilometres from Italy, on the border of the Vanoise National Park, created in 1963.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski resort Val d'Isère in the Savoie region of France, is a colourful winter sports haven that began as a farm community in the years B.C. The town received parish rights in 1637 and the parish church, which is still a landmark in the town centre, was built in 1664.

The charming village finds its 1,800 residents outnumbered 15 to one by guests in winter. The western and central areas of Val d'Isère are most recognizable by their "chalet" architecture, while in the eastern part of the town high-rise architecture dominates the landscape.

Along with nearby purpose-built Tignes the area forms part of the Espace Killy, the self-titled "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". Named for Olympic hero Jean-Claude Killy, who grew up in Val d'Isère, Val is the better-known part of the skiing region and one of the best ski destinations in the French Alps.

The Val d'Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley. As you approach the resort you pass by Lac du Chevril, under which the old town of Tignes (sunk in 1952) is found. You then enter Val d'Isère via La Daille where the Olympic downhill run finishes. This is a very popular way for skiers to leave the mountain on Val d'Isère holidays, as it is directly below the greatest après ski party in France at Folie Douce. The ski down at closing time is riotous but only recommended for strong intermediates and above. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, as well as the usual winter fare.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski slopes themselves are equipped with a high-volume gondola, able to transport standing skiers, the funicular Funival from La Daille via a tunnel to the top of Bellevarde, traditional chair lifts - some with windshields and many detachable, button/disc-pulls - and tow-ropes. There are both groomed slopes and backcountry (off-piste) skiing. The slopes' difficulty levels are particularly high. However, as in Tignes there are grand, easy  pistes as well. It is first class off-piste country for powder addicts and there are many good guides available.
