Description

Perched on the cliffs overlooking the Isère river gorge, the luxury chalet Vieux Pont has a unique location. Michel Covarel has designed a beautiful chalet which has a super-luxurious feel in a great location. The interiors are simply stunning; the chalet is set over four floors and features a large open plan living and dining room on the upper floor. Below are five en-suite bedrooms, one of which is built directly into the rock face of the river. On the lowest floor you will find a stylish pool and hammam. Only 150m from the Le Fornet cable car and you can ski back to the door via the blue Mangard ski run.

Chalet Vieux Pont is positioned in one of the most beautiful spots in Val d’Isère. It is enviably perched on the rocks above the Isère river gorge and sits at the bottom of the blue Mangard piste that comes into the village from Le Fornet, meaning that you can comfortably ski back to the door. This chalet was constructed in 2014 by the renowned architect Michel Covarel. It is set over four levels and is built in local stone and reclaimed wood to give a contemporary feel.

The interiors are chic and contemporary without losing the traditional mountain hideaway feel. The river plays a huge role in the locale of the chalet - it winds past three sides and is ever changing as the seasons move from autumn to winter to spring. Situated just 150m from the main Le Fornet cable car, chalet Vieux Pont is the perfect choice if you love your off-piste skiing, as this lift accesses the famous off piste areas of the Grand Vallon and Col Pers. The microclimate of Le Fornet means that Vieux Pont is often deep in fresh powder whilst other areas miss out. Just three swift minutes in our car service and you also have access to all the shops and amenities of the village centre. But if you want to stay closer to home, Vieux Pont is just 100m from the acclaimed two michelin-starred restaurant, "L'Altelier d'Edmond".
Situated beautifully next to her sister chalet, Rive Gauche, you enter the reception area and ski room where you will find a simple place for ski storage and all important boot warmers. There is also a master en-suite bedroom with king/twin beds and a wrap around balcony on this level. Moving down a level you will find three large king/twin rooms, each with their own personality and style; one contains an antique carved door headboard and the rock face of the chalet that runs along the inside of the room. Heading down again to the lowest level you will find a private bedroom with stunning views of the old bridge and a small terrace.

You will also find an indoor pool with a flow machine and a relaxing steam room. The highest floor of the chalet contains the large open plan living and dining area. With a trio aspect there is huge amounts of light that floods into this floor. The reclaimed wood table seats ten and there is also a card and games table for four. The log fireplace is a central focus for the room and there is a large flat screen television for catching up on sporting events or just watching a movie.

The chalet is fully serviced. The professional chefs will contact you before arrival to discuss your menus for the week. There is alsoan in house host who provides an exceptional concierge service to help you with the booking of ski tuition, guides, equipment or help with restaurant reservations. The chalet comes with access to our 4x4 Landrover driving service and chauffeur, who also doubles as our 'go to' person for snow and weather updates and lift openings.

Chalet Vieux Pont can perfectly be combined with Chalet Rive Gauche to cater for a group of twenty.

Infos/Activities

Our luxury ski chalets in Val d'Isère are available catered and self-catered, for the best luxury ski holidays ever. Some are Ski in/Ski out and many have swimming pools, sauna, hammam and hot tubs. Val d'Isère is located only five kilometres from Italy, on the border of the Vanoise National Park, created in 1963.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski resort Val d'Isère in the Savoie region of France, is a colourful winter sports haven that began as a farm community in the years B.C. The town received parish rights in 1637 and the parish church, which is still a landmark in the town centre, was built in 1664.

The charming village finds its 1,800 residents outnumbered 15 to one by guests in winter. The western and central areas of Val d'Isère are most recognizable by their "chalet" architecture, while in the eastern part of the town high-rise architecture dominates the landscape.

Along with nearby purpose-built Tignes the area forms part of the Espace Killy, the self-titled "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". Named for Olympic hero Jean-Claude Killy, who grew up in Val d'Isère, Val is the better-known part of the skiing region and one of the best ski destinations in the French Alps.

The Val d'Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley. As you approach the resort you pass by Lac du Chevril, under which the old town of Tignes (sunk in 1952) is found. You then enter Val d'Isère via La Daille where the Olympic downhill run finishes. This is a very popular way for skiers to leave the mountain on Val d'Isère holidays, as it is directly below the greatest après ski party in France at Folie Douce. The ski down at closing time is riotous but only recommended for strong intermediates and above. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, as well as the usual winter fare.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski slopes themselves are equipped with a high-volume gondola, able to transport standing skiers, the funicular Funival from La Daille via a tunnel to the top of Bellevarde, traditional chair lifts - some with windshields and many detachable, button/disc-pulls - and tow-ropes. There are both groomed slopes and backcountry (off-piste) skiing. The slopes' difficulty levels are particularly high. However, as in Tignes there are grand, easy  pistes as well. It is first class off-piste country for powder addicts and there are many good guides available.
