Description

Luxury Chalet Orca is one of the most prestigious chalets in Val d'Isère. Located in Le Fornet, a slightly outlying and residential ancestral hamlet at the foot of an exceptional ski area, Chalet Orca has been created by "Le Mouton à Bascule". Holiday chalet Orca is part of a complex of two prestigious chalets - the other being Chalet Orso - unique in the French Alps. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful chalets built in the resort.

The setting of Chalet Orca is one of the only places to guarantee maximum sunshine all year round. Its huge floor-to-ceiling windows, with a 180-degree view, will revolutionize the way you experience your stay by offering a total immersion in the centre of Val d'Isère. With a surface of 420sqm spread across 4 levels plus a mezzanine, holiday chalet Orca sleeps a total of 14 people.

As soon as you enter the chalet, you will notice an exceptional architecture. Design and decoration are both upscale and traditional. Noble materials such as old wood, leather, stone, flagstone "Lauze" roof are combined with contemporary furniture and bay windows. This gives the chalet an intimate, refined and warm atmosphere. Welcoming and sophisticated holidayers will love to recharge their batteries in the utmost comfort of Chalet Orca.

The first floor of this extraordinary ski chalet consists of a large entrance with multiple storage spaces on either side of the room. On the right is a ski room in old wood and black metal. The stairway is made of stone with old wooden railings that add an extra touch to the decor. The children's dormitories are also made of old wood with Arpin decoration, a high-end Alpine artisan reference. Children have a nice view from this room and all the necessary comfort.

Access to floors can be made by using either an elevator or the stairway. On the lower floor is a magnificent wine cellar entirely glazed under the stairs. The level also offers an incredible wellness area: take a swim in the overflow pool and enjoy a moment of relaxation. It is heated to 27° (the temperature is adjustable for comfort). You will find a stone Jacuzzi with tiled armchairs and its temperature is 34°. You will also have a sauna, a hammam, a large Italian shower, and a gym, fully equipped with the latest technologies. A perfect immersion guaranteeing an exceptional moment of well-being.

The upper floor consists of four magnificent rooms. The first bedroom faces the bay window with a view overlooking the Le Fornet hamlet and the forest. The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a shower with double basins and a waterfall tap. The second bedroom also offers a nice view next to the bed and is equipped with a free-standing bathtub. The third bedroom has a 2-meter long by 1,50m wide Italian shower. You will love the master bedroom: imagine yourself in the freestanding bathtub with the crackling fireplace and the view of the Old Village of Le Fornet! It also has an Italian shower and a double basin.

On this floor, you will have access to one of the most beautiful views from the peripheral balcony that runs alongside all the rooms: due South, at the top of the Fornet with a view of the Old Village below, the forest, the stream crossing the Fornet, the high altitude restaurant "Le Signal" at the top of the ski lift and the Saint-Charles Bridge to the East. This is an exceptional panorama that you will never get tired of.

On the upper floor, a unique element, a "never seen before" in the resort: 6-meter wide by 6-meter high, diamond-shaped window with heat-treated glass for optimal comfort and maximum light. You will love spending special moments with your loved ones in this lounge, especially by sitting comfortably on the large sofa against the bay window, contemplating the splendid view. All the walls of the living room form the bay window and therefore a 180-degree view like a real complete immersion in the centre of Val d'Isère. Specially designed to provide a 180-degree panoramic view of the fire, the 3-sided glass fireplace gives a warm touch that can be enjoyed anywhere. The curtains and bed linings are made by "Atelier des Frères", tailor-made to enhance the soul of the chalet.

The semi-independent kitchen, isolated by an old wood bar, is made of stone, very contemporary and of high quality. It offers direct access to the terrace with a magnificent valley views. The chalet's private chef, present in the morning as well as in the evening, will concoct for you the most complete breakfast to fill up your energy before skiing, and will make you discover the specialities of the region. Chalet Orca also has a private driver as well as a butler and housekeeper to provide you with the best possible experience during your stay.

The metal staircase will lead you to the mezzanine with a pool table, a bar, an arcade table, and a TV screen. The mezzanine also allows splendid views of the Old Village and overlooks the living room. There is also a large garage with enough space for four cars.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISÈRE

Val d'Isère’s charming village is a colorful winter sports haven, originally founded as a farming community centuries ago. Today, the village is home to around 1,800 residents, but during winter, this number swells to more than 30,000, thanks to the influx of skiers and visitors. The western and central parts of the village are easily recognizable for their classic chalet-style architecture, while the eastern part features modern high-rise buildings.

Historically significant, Val d'Isère received parish rights in 1637, and the parish church, built in 1664, remains a landmark at the heart of the village. Together with the nearby resort of Tignes, Val d'Isère is part of the Espace Killy, an area famously dubbed the "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". The resort is set at the base of a V-shaped valley and is accessible via La Daille, where you’ll pass by the Lac du Chevril. Beneath the lake lies the old town of Tignes, which was submerged in 1952 to create the new dam.

One of the highlights of a Val d'Isère ski holiday is the après-ski experience, particularly at Folie Douce. Located at the top of the ski slopes, it’s renowned for its vibrant après-ski parties. A ski down from the venue, directly into the village, is an exciting way to end your day, although it’s only suitable for strong intermediates and above due to its steepness.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISÈRE

Val d'Isère is a paradise for skiers of all levels, offering a mix of groomed slopes and backcountry skiing. The resort is known for its challenging slopes, making it a favorite among experienced skiers and powder addicts. For those seeking adventure off-piste, Val d'Isère provides plenty of untouched powder and has a number of ski guides available to show you the best routes.

Val d'Isère is part of the Espace Killy ski area, which links Val d'Isère and Tignes, offering over 300km of ski slopes. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, and the area is serviced by high-capacity gondolas, chairlifts, and even a funicular (the Funival), which takes you from La Daille to the top of Bellevarde.

Whether you’re looking for easy, wide pistes or steep, off-piste terrain, Val d'Isère caters to all types of skiers. The main lifts and gondolas offer convenient access to the area’s best slopes, and the ski area is equipped with four snow parks and extensive cross-country trails.
