Gran Hotel Soller / Soller - West
THE GRAN HOTEL SOLLER – A CLASSICAL EXAMPLE OF MAJORCAN MAGIC
The Gran Hotel Sóller is much more than a 5 star hotel, magnificently situated in the center of a beautiful municipality on the north-west of the island of Majorca and also enjoys the advantage of being positioned between the sea and the mountains.
The building dates back to 1880, under the first owners Ramón Casasnovas and his wife, who commissioned the design and construction to the famous architect Joaquin Pavía Birmingham, author of the Palacio de la Diputación de Mallorca (now the headquarters of the Consell de Mallorca) and the restoration of the Temple de Vesta (Rome, Italy), as well as the extension works carried out on the Parish Church of Santa María (Sineu, Majorca) and especially on the Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca..
Origins:Family lodgings and leather and tanning factory.
During its first years of existence the beautiful little palace served as the residence of the Casasnovas family who in time, in order to take advantage of the space available in their comfortable home, decided to convert the rear part of the building into a tanning and leather factory. It was from here that at the beginning of the 20th century many of the boots worn by soldiers who fought in the First World War were produced.
The Gran Hotel Soller is located in one of the most characteristic buildings of Sóller, a depiction of the architecture of the town in the XIX Century. Built by the architect Joaquín Pavía Birmingham, creator of the Diputación de Mallorca (headquarters of the Council of Majorca) and the extension works of the Cathedral of Palma de Majorca.
Totally refurbished in accordance to a 5 star establishment the Gran Hotel Sóller boasts the most modern services for the comfort and enjoyment of its distinguished guests.
Restaurant & Spa
Restaurante Ca’n Blau:High quality local products indulgently presented.
In every hotel establishment the Food and Beverage department has a special importance mainly because they have to satisfy the expectations of the customers on many different occasions:from breakfast until dinner, passing through the aperitif, working lunches, coffee breaks, Sunday brunches and the final night-cap before retiring after an intense day of relaxation or work.
Taking this into account, in the Gran Hotel Soller, has established a new gastronomic strategy which looks to adapt their services to the different requirements of the clientele, favouring the use of quality products with a detailed presentation and a rapid personalized attention.
This policy has made be obvious mainly in the area of restoration and, more concretely, in the offer of products and services of Restaurant Can Blau, whose burners have put in hands of the chef Javier Weil, disciple of figures of the Spanish gran cuisine as Martin Beresategui (3 stars Spare tire) or Dani García (1 major Spare tire) and devoutly convinced of that the traditional cuisine and the flavours of long ago have to be the base of the new creative cuisine.
Decorated within the influence of the purest Majorcan style of architecture, in which the most outstanding is the use of natural stone, giving Can Blau a solidity and strength.Within its walls there are some interesting recesses with a private dining room and a luxury cellar well stocked with a variety of exclusive wines.
On the exterior, a natural open area welcomes visitors and rewards them with some impressionable views of the Serra de Tramontana and the magical flow of the waters of the Torrent Gros.Artistic design, personalized service and gastronomic delicacies available for the most demanding palates.
