Lech is one of the Europe’s most exclusive resorts, and to occupy the heights there takes a very special property. Nidus Penthouse more than lives up to the challenge. This 211-square-metre penthouse apartment takes up the whole top floor of the Nidus building, with sleeping accommodation for 10 in five bedrooms. This is a perfect family holiday home with excellent children’s facilities, but it will also tempt friends or corporate groups.

It is the design that will catch the eye first – both superbly up-to-date and with a timeless sense of comfort – but Nidus also delivers on facilities, service, extras and environment. Lift access brings you into a hallway that sets the tone of luxury – and practicality with lots of storage and seating - that runs throughout Nidus Penthouse.

Turn to your left and you’re straight into the living and dining area. There is only one balcony in this high-level apartment – accessed from the living area – but it has the bonus of great height to its ceilings to accentuate the light and make the most of the big, big windows. Beyond them lie some of the most iconic mountain views in the world, best enjoyed from your own terrace with a glass of Champagne in hand.

Polished oak floors and wooden walls and ceilings are ultra-traditional, while huge, soft sofas are ultra-comfortable, super-sized and seriously stylish. A large fireplace adds ambience and provides a focus or a private nook into which to escape with a book. Music from an integrated sound system helps set the mood, while large screen TVs and DVDs, and the best WiFi mean there are plenty of diversions for Nidus Penthouse’s guests.

The dining area is also long on style and space, with seating for up to 12 and an open-plan kitchen equipped with the best appliances. All of the bedrooms are individually designed, but all share a feeling of opulence that invites you to sink into your surroundings, switch off and truly relax. Fabrics, furniture and products are all beautifully chosen for form and function – this place is a comfortable as it is beautiful.

The master suite boasts its own sauna in its en-suite bathroom that also features a separate shower. A private shower is also shared by a pair of twin/double rooms. The decoration in the children’s bunk room is enchanting. It shares a shower room with the final twin/double bedroom. The standout Nidus, clad all in wood, is beautifully situated and also has very good shared facilities, including plenty of ski storage and heated boot warmers for all guests.

When taken on a catered basis, the food is prepared in the professional kitchen area in the lower floor of the property and then served by the hosts in the comfort of your own apartment.

SKIING IN LECH

 There are 88 ski lifts covering more than 260 kilometres of prepared piste. In addition to downhill skiing there are also 15 kilometres of cross country track, a snow park, ice bowling, skating, heliskiing, paragliding, snow shoe hiking and a toboggan run. Lech also offers snowboarders and freestylers the best opportunities to indulge their passion. On the Schlegelkopf, the 1,600m high Lech snowpark, which continues to grow and offer even more professional facilities, gets snowboarders' and freestylers' pulses racing. From the beginning of December, riders can show off their skills here and so enjoy an early start to the season, away from the glaciers, in Lech am Arlberg.
