Description

Catered Chalet

Luxury Chalet Orso is located in Le Fornet, a slightly outlying and residential ancestral hamlet at the foot of an exceptional ski area of Val d'Isère. The exclusive holiday home is part of Le Mouton à Bascule, a group of two - the other being Chalet Orca - prestigious chalets unique in the French Alps. The level of facilities and services is worthy of the most luxurious hotels. Shuttles are available between the centre of Val d'Isère and Le Fornet.

Holiday chalet Orso offers large bay windows with panoramic view of the mountains. Spa area with swimming pool, overflow Jacuzzi, hammam and sauna. Chalet Orso combines the rusticity of Alpine chalets with the latest technology. Nestled in the middle of pine trees and mountains, this chalet makes a memorable first impression: its exteriors made of old light wood and local grey stones blend perfectly into the snow. This beautiful surprise will continue as soon as you step out the door.

The entrance to Chalet Orso is made of heated "lauze" flagstone and offers, on the left, a very large 13,50sqm ski room to remove your shoes comfortably after a long day on the slopes. Whether you are a skier or not, you will love the dedicated spaces of this magnificent luxury chalet. The chalet is equipped with an elevator and a staircase in old and contemporary wood with leds to access the different levels. The alpine and modern spirit of this chalet intertwines the same elements from one floor to the next: the old wooden floors and walls, the black metal details to awaken the eye, the presence of stones in the stairs or the kitchen to revive the authenticity of the place, the traditional Alpine fabrics made to warm up the bedrooms and the different rooms of the chalet.

Next to the ski room, a beautiful tailor-made wine cellar. The level also contains a pearl among the jewels of ski chalet Orso: a very large wellness and fitness area. Relax in the custom-made hammam or sauna, do lengths in the pool or let the bubbles relax you in the stone and overflowing Jacuzzi! A water mirror, including the pool and jacuzzi, is 15 metres long. The raw concrete on the ceiling goes down the wall to the bottom of the pool and gives the magical impression of being in a cave. Not to mention the fitness area, Chalet Orso will delight all its guests.

This luxury chalet has a master bedroom nestled inside the fir trees, very well equipped, including an ethanol fireplace, a private balcony, a very large Italian shower and a freestanding bathtub with TV built into the wall facing the bathtub, a large dressing room and a desk. You will have a view through the surrounding nature, in the middle of the forest. Another room on this level is also equipped with an ethanol fireplace and a private balcony with a beautiful view of nature.

It also has an office and a large Italian shower. The third room has a bathtub with a beautiful view of the Fornet forest. The level offers a fourth bedroom with a large dressing room and a bathtub, as well as a custom-built dormitory made of old wood. A real cocoon for children where they will feel like in a small house. They will also have a double Italian shower, with double basin and a large bathtub. All rooms have a TV and offer exceptional comfort.

Upstairs, you will find the main room: a magnificent dining room entirely made of old wood. A superb metal staircase will take you to the mezzanine under a creeping ceiling, 2,50 metres high, where you will find many games and entertainment at your disposal: table football, pinball machine, an authentic jubebox with vinyl, bar and TV lounge; and enjoy a splendid view of the lounge and the entire village of Le Fornet.

The entire living area is designed as an open space. Thus, the living room, the kitchen and the mezzanine blend together and interact in an unclosed path. The kitchen can be closed if you wish to ask for the services of a chef to rest completely. A chef and a waiter will be at your disposal, in the greatest discretion, for breakfasts and dinners. He will prepare delicacies and other delicacies for you in the fully equipped semi-professional kitchen. The interior decoration, with its natural and refined colours, favours elegance in order to preserve an impression of space and optimal luminosity.

Great attention has been paid to furnishings and textiles, which reinforce the welcoming and warm character of the premises. The Brothers' workshop made the curtains, the bed linings... Tailor-made products to enhance the soul of the chalet. A private driver and a housekeeper are also present to provide you with the best possible experience during your stay in Chalet Orso.

The magnificent lounge offers a clear view with the magical feeling of being in the middle of the mountains, like a natural lookout. This is an essential part of the stay. You will have the privilege of having a view at more than 200 degrees from East to West via the South. A 7,50-meter-high living room, a first 6-meter-high by 3,50-meter-wide bay window with a southern exposure, and a second 4,50-meter-high by 5-meter-wide bay window with a western exposure. You will also have an opening on a large 40sqm balcony/terrace with a Norwegian bath heated electrically or with wood. You will love swimming while enjoying the 180-degree view overlooking the entire Fornet.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski resort Val d'Isère in the Savoie region of France, is a colourful winter sports haven that began as a farm community in the years B.C. The town received parish rights in 1637 and the parish church, which is still a landmark in the town centre, was built in 1664.

The charming village finds its 1,800 residents outnumbered 15 to one by guests in winter. The western and central areas of Val d'Isère are most recognizable by their "chalet" architecture, while in the eastern part of the town high-rise architecture dominates the landscape.

Along with nearby purpose-built Tignes the area forms part of the Espace Killy, the self-titled "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". Named for Olympic hero Jean-Claude Killy, who grew up in Val d'Isère, Val is the better-known part of the skiing region and one of the best ski destinations in the French Alps.

The Val d'Isère village is long and thin at the bottom of a deep V-shaped valley. As you approach the resort you pass by Lac du Chevril, under which the old town of Tignes (sunk in 1952) is found. You then enter Val d'Isère via La Daille where the Olympic downhill run finishes. This is a very popular way for skiers to leave the mountain on Val d'Isère holidays, as it is directly below the greatest après ski party in France at Folie Douce. The ski down at closing time is riotous but only recommended for strong intermediates and above. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, as well as the usual winter fare.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISERE

The ski slopes themselves are equipped with a high-volume gondola, able to transport standing skiers, the funicular Funival from La Daille via a tunnel to the top of Bellevarde, traditional chair lifts - some with windshields and many detachable, button/disc-pulls - and tow-ropes. There are both groomed slopes and backcountry (off-piste) skiing. The slopes' difficulty levels are particularly high. However, as in Tignes there are grand, easy  pistes as well. It is first class off-piste country for powder addicts and there are many good guides available.
