Chalet Calistoga – Val d’Isère
Published on 03/12/2016 by Finest Holidays - Luxury Travel
Chalet Calistoga in Val d’Isère is an outstanding luxury chalet, beautifully placed in the exclusive Du Cret area. With up to 10 guests able to enjoy five beautiful en-suite bedrooms, fabulous mountain views and top-of-the-range spa facilities you need to check out this amazing accommodation for group or family breaks this winter.
Refurbished fully in 2016, Chalet Calistoga has the latest and best entertainment facilities – Sky and Apple TV – but is built and decorated very much in the classic Alpine style, with lots of bare stone, exposed beams, furs and traditional fabrics.
The spacious interiors reflect a beautiful setting – behind the chalet the mighty Alps rise. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the double-height main room (315m2 in area) bring this mountain world inside, while a real fire is a focal point for warm, cosy evenings.
The sleeping accommodation is split across three floors. Two twin/superking rooms are at garden level with terrace access. This floor also holds a third double, and a smaller twin/superking room. The final bedroom is on the lower-ground floor, with marvellous mountain views. All rooms are en-suite. When it comes to relaxation, Chalet Calistoga will quickly get you into recovery mode after a hard day’s skiing. A swimming pool, sauna, shower, and massage/treatment room are yours to use – ask your staff about visiting therapists.
The main living room will be your social hub, with a large dining table for meals served from a state-of-the-art kitchen. If you want to escape, head to the small private TV snug with internet and satellite channels. The kids have their own TV and games room on the lower-ground floor. There is Wi-Fi throughout the chalet. Beautifully situated, and with a real feeling of mountain isolation, Chalet Calistoga, is nevertheless wonderfully placed to access Val d’Isère’s world-class skiing. The nearest piste is just two minutes away by car and the resort’s central lift hub is four minutes away. An excellent ski room with boot warmers leaves you in no doubt that this is a property for serious Alpine sports enthusiasts as well as luxury fans.
Val d’Isère is one of the Europe’s top ski resorts. Linked with neighbouring Tignes, the ski area offers 300kms of pistes with a 1,900m vertical range served by nearly 100 lifts. The high altitudes (up to around 3,400m) pretty much guarantee good snow in a season that runs from November to May, and the slopes offer a good range for every ability level from beginners on up. This quality of skiing has made Val a fixture in top-level international competition for both skiers and snowboarders. In 1992, the winter sports giants of the big-three Olympic races hurtled down Face de Bellevarde, which you can ski this winter.
Good quality skiing means good quality après ski, and Val d’Isère matches its pristine slopes with a sparkling social scene. Try historic resort favourite La Grande Ourse, or the Michelin-starred La Table de l’Ours and L’Atelier Edmond for dinner before cocktails at The Blizzard Hotel and dancing at Dick’s Tea Bar.
