Description

Located in a quiet, picturesque corner of the village, the luxury Chalet du Crêt is only a 5 min stroll from exclusive boutiques, bars and chic restaurants in the village centre of Val d'Isère. Lovingly restored over the past two years, this enchanting property has been transformed from a cheese farm run by local monks into one of Val d’Isère’s finest chalets available to rent. Sleeping up to 12 people in six individually designed bedrooms, the chalet is laid out over three floors. The owners have carefully preserved the original features, including the traditional chapel that nestles in the garden. Inside, clever combinations of old aged stone and exposed beams combined with sumptuous fabrics and furniture have created a beautiful contemporary home whilst maintaining it’s rustic charm.

The chalet is perfect for groups of friends or families, with all the bedrooms having en-suite shower or bathrooms, and all the beds can be made up as twin’s or doubles. The deluxe master bedroom on the top floor has double height ceilings, as well as a stylish seating area with desk and private terrace. Entertaining and relaxing is at the heart of this chalet. The large open plan living and dining area boasts a beautiful, stone fireplace surrounded by comfy sofas with luxurious throws and cushions providing the perfect spot to curl up with a good book before dinner. Sophisticated lighting and fabulous modern art creates the perfect setting for socialising with friends or for enjoying an intimate dinner by candle light.

For those wishing to break out and enjoy the latest series or movie in peace, retreat to the sumptuous and stylish cinema room. In-front of the screen sits the large L-shaped sofa, whilst retro leather chairs and a desk area provide more space to relax. For kids, there is a den with faux grass, a climbing wall and snug seating area with TV allowing for endless entertainment. The spa facilities at Chalet du Crêt cater for everyone. An outdoor hot tub and hammam will ensure guests can unwind after a day exploring the incredible Espace Killy ski area.

The chalet is normally provided with an In-resort driver service when sold on a fully catered basis.

LUXURY SKI HOLIDAYS IN VAL D'ISÈRE

Val d'Isère’s charming village is a colorful winter sports haven, originally founded as a farming community centuries ago. Today, the village is home to around 1,800 residents, but during winter, this number swells to more than 30,000, thanks to the influx of skiers and visitors. The western and central parts of the village are easily recognizable for their classic chalet-style architecture, while the eastern part features modern high-rise buildings.

Historically significant, Val d'Isère received parish rights in 1637, and the parish church, built in 1664, remains a landmark at the heart of the village. Together with the nearby resort of Tignes, Val d'Isère is part of the Espace Killy, an area famously dubbed the "Most Beautiful Ski Area in the World". The resort is set at the base of a V-shaped valley and is accessible via La Daille, where you’ll pass by the Lac du Chevril. Beneath the lake lies the old town of Tignes, which was submerged in 1952 to create the new dam.

One of the highlights of a Val d'Isère ski holiday is the après-ski experience, particularly at Folie Douce. Located at the top of the ski slopes, it’s renowned for its vibrant après-ski parties. A ski down from the venue, directly into the village, is an exciting way to end your day, although it’s only suitable for strong intermediates and above due to its steepness.

SKIING IN VAL D'ISÈRE

Val d'Isère is a paradise for skiers of all levels, offering a mix of groomed slopes and backcountry skiing. The resort is known for its challenging slopes, making it a favorite among experienced skiers and powder addicts. For those seeking adventure off-piste, Val d'Isère provides plenty of untouched powder and has a number of ski guides available to show you the best routes.

Val d'Isère is part of the Espace Killy ski area, which links Val d'Isère and Tignes, offering over 300km of ski slopes. The Pissaillas Glacier offers summer skiing, and the area is serviced by high-capacity gondolas, chairlifts, and even a funicular (the Funival), which takes you from La Daille to the top of Bellevarde.

Whether you’re looking for easy, wide pistes or steep, off-piste terrain, Val d'Isère caters to all types of skiers. The main lifts and gondolas offer convenient access to the area’s best slopes, and the ski area is equipped with four snow parks and extensive cross-country trails.

RESTAURANTS & BARS IN VAL D'ISÈRE

For a more casual dining experience, Le Chalet de la Daille is a popular spot for skiers to grab a hearty lunch or dinner, offering a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. For après-ski, La Folie Douce is the place to be, combining high-energy music, drinks, and dancing for a memorable experience.

In the heart of the village, Café de la Place is a lively bar with great cocktails, perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes. Whether you’re after a gourmet meal, a lively après-ski, or a cozy evening with friends, Val d'Isère’s restaurants and bars offer something for every mood.

THINGS TO DO IN VAL D'ISÈRE

While Val d'Isère is renowned for its world-class skiing, the resort offers much more for visitors to enjoy throughout the year. In winter, indulge in a wide variety of non-skiing activities such as snowshoeing, dog sledding, and ice skating. The resort is also known for its winter hiking trails, providing a perfect opportunity to explore the beautiful mountain scenery at a slower pace.

Val d'Isère is a prime destination for those seeking wellness and relaxation after a day on the slopes. The resort has several spas and wellness centers, offering everything from massages to thermal baths, providing the ultimate way to unwind and recharge.

For families, Val d'Isère has a variety of family-friendly activities, including children's ski schools, tobogganing areas, and indoor play zones. In summer, the resort transforms into an outdoor playground, offering a range of activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and rock climbing. The Val d'Isère Festival also takes place during the summer months, bringing world-class music performances to the mountains.
