Discover the Pearls of Val d’Isère

Discover the Pearls of Val d’Isère

Published on 19/06/2019 by Finest Holidays - Luxury Travel

The French Alps are more stunning wildflower meadows than flawless snow fields at the moment. But a luxury mountain chalet is a getaway for all season. Val d’Isère’s ski lifts are closed now but a busy summer of hiking, balloon trips and adventure sports is in swing. And the announcement of 2019/2020’s ski dates (November 30th to May 3rd) is a reminder that you should book now your next luxury ski holiday. Val d’Isère is the historic centerpiece of the L’Espace Killy ski area, where around 300km of pistes give visitors the full range of skiing experiences.

The big swimming pool with its water jets and North African steam room is the headline attraction, but there is opulence and quality wherever you look, from the latest entertainment tech, including a cinema room, to big, beautiful windows that bring the light flooding in to the living area. And it’s all delivered with the best catered service.

“The best in the Alps,” and “easily the most charming, and most chic, place in Val d’Isère”. Those aren’t our words, but the words of the „Sunday Times“ and „InStyle Magazine“, who have confirmed ski-in/ski-out luxury chalet Montana as one of the world’s great luxury ski chalets.

We’re happy to agree with them, and we’re sure you will too when you see the picture-perfect mountain views – from the swimming pool as well as the terraces. This four-floor, six-bedroom ski chalet is a one of a kind. Up to 15 guests can enjoy this spacious, intimate and beautifully designed and equipped chalet from the moment you’re welcomed with Champagne to your mountain home.

A Gold Medal Resort in Winter and Summer

Unlike some Alpine resorts, Val d’Isère has real history that stretches back to the Ancient Romans and has left a charming village center that’s a beautiful contrast to some of the apartment-block architecture in some resorts.

The village was a winter sports pioneer, and has remained one of the world’s great ski resorts. The 1992 Winter Olympics used the area’s slopes for downhill events, and it’s still a regular on international winter sports calendars. As the snows melt, the area reveals a new beauty as the slopes the skiers love are transformed into a playground for hikers, hang-gliders, climbers, and cyclists. This year, the 2019 Tour de France, the world’s most famous cycle race is just one of Val d’Isère’s summer highlights as its 19th stage winds around the area’s high-adrenaline roads.

Year-round quality

Whatever the season one never need look far around Val d’Isère – and its sister resort Tignes – to find superb shopping, dining, and socializing. With much of Parisian – and London – high society regularly arriving in the town there’s plenty of call for fashion, jewelry, tech, outdoor living, and gift shopping of the highest quality.

Then there’s the food

Val d’Isère celebrates its history. There’s a rich tradition of Savoyard food, much of it rich, cheesy, and hearty, and a French location just a few miles from the Italian border just may be one of the best culinary locations on the planet. L’Atelier d’Edmond wins two stars in the Michelin Guide for its “refined and inspired” food, a cutting edge menu from chef Benoît Vidal, whose picture perfect plates are a modern counterpoint to a traditional chalet setting.

Le Table d’Ours and Ursus (in Tignes) are also worthy of stars in the world’s best restaurant guide, and there are many more entries. Val d’Isère’s après ski is rated as among the bests in France, and includes everything from sophisticated cocktail lounges to all-night dancing.
